We are just back from an amazing few weeks in Australia… Our Perth highlights:
Bivouac for dinner with friends — incredible new(ish) restaurant in Northbridge. Impeccable and friendly service, great atmosphere, cool concept of restaurant + gallery with rotating exhibitions of local artists. Try the ragu, try the haloumi salad, try everything.
Caversham Wildlife Park — I was expecting tourist hell, instead we were really impressed; great array of Australian wildlife, quiet, well designed, fun! Witness Alex plus sleeping koala:
Sitella Winery + Anna Chandler — seeing as though we were already in the Swan Valley to visit the wildlife park, why not have lunch at a gorgeous winery and then partake in some cellar door action and support local craftswomen at the same time. The Sitella 2009 Verdelho is delicious, and Anna Chandler makes beautiful vibrant textiles.
Il Lid0 for lunch after a morning at the beach — still the best. Hands down. How can you go wrong: relaxed Italian food, extensive wine list, Cottesloe beach location. Perth at its best.
Epic Espresso — best coffee in Perth. Downside: only open on weekdays.
King Street Cafe — best breakfast. I have been dining here for ten years and it is still incredibly good. It was always ahead of its time, it is as though the rest of King Street has now caught up. Also best spot for a glass of champagne.
